   ParenTeen Foundation      Educators Forum

All children have the right to safety and protection. Everyone has a role in ensuring that our children are protected from harm, neglect, substance abuse, sexual assault, peer victimisation, being injured or traumatised.

The ParenTeen foundation will ensure that parents are equipped with knowledge, support and the tools to assist them with the challenges that our children are increasingly exposed to.

The foundation also assists parents with their own challenges (enforcing boundaries, single parenting, financial crises, divorce or other trauma).

All teens have the right to safety and protection. Everyone has a role in ensuring that our children are protected from harm, neglect, substance abuse and sexual assault, peer victimisation, being injured or traumatised.

The only way to keep our children safe is to educate them about the dangers that they face on a daily basis.

The Rape Wise grade 7 sexuality workshop – (duration 3 hours) this workshop will take place during school hours and the following topics are covered with both the boys and girls. (Please note that due to maturity reasons, this workshop should be presented separately to the boys and girls)

The Rape Wise 72hr campaign aims to facilitate the preventative education of 8 million South African school children.

Background

More children in South Africa contract HIV from sexual assault than from mother to child transmission. Post exposure prophylactics given to victims within 72hrs after the rape will prevent the victim from contracting HIV, but this is not widely known. The average sentence handed down to a convicted rapist is 15yrs, but the majority of rape victims receive the death sentence due to lack of education. You can change this!

We have failed our children and if we do not act now, we will be failing the next generation as well.

Rape Wise is an organisation that is made up of volunteers who are experts in their field of profession. As training providers to the Department of education, Health, Social Services and Safety and Security, we have trained thousands of professionals over the last eight years, throughout South Africa.

During 2008, we expanded our focus and launched a series of products and workshops for both parents and learners. Parent empowerment is of the utmost importance, as they are at the forefront, in the fight against crime involving children.

Rape Wise has a corporates division that specialises in training, management and staff on the dangers of sexual assault and the eradication of Sexual Harassment in the workplace.

Many corporates have sponsored disadvantage schools and this enables them to receive the rape training and utilise our education support material in their classrooms.

The following are an examples of the workshops offered by Rape Wise.
