Rape Wise 72hr Campaign
The Rape Wise 72hr campaign aims
to facilitate the preventative education of 8 million
South African school children.
Background
More
children in South Africa contract HIV from sexual
assault than from mother to child transmission.
Post exposure prophylactics given to victims within
72hrs after the rape will prevent the victim from
contracting HIV, but this is not widely known. The
average sentence handed down to a convicted rapist is
15yrs, but the majority of rape victims receive the
death sentence due to lack of education. You can
change this!
We have
failed our children and if we do not act now, we will
be failing the next generation as well.

Pilot project sponsored by
NTP Radioisotopes (Pty) Ltd in Pelindaba,
Pretoria, where Rape Wise recently spoke about
sexual awareness and safety to learners and
educators of Re-e-Lwele Primary School and Ennis
Thabong School (both are part of NTP’s
adopt-a-school project). |
| |
|
 |
During the presentation to learners, 8 cases of
rape and child abuse were reported to Rape Wise.
These cases were reported to the South African
police force and the children were referred for
counselling. |
Campaign Message
